I have a bachelors degree in environmental engineering from Hebei University of Science and Technology- China, and a Diploma in Environmental Health Sciences from Chainama College of Health Sciences- Zambia. My degree was very much focused on pollution control (bioremediation technologies), and some of the courses covered include Water Engineering 1 and Water Engineering 2 (Wastewater treatment), Green Chemistry and Engineering, Cleaner Production, Hydromechanics, Air pollution Control, Acoustics and Noise Control, Waste Management, Modern Instrumentation and Techniques, Environmental protection and Sustainable Development, Methods of EIA etc. Besides, my 16 weeks Laboratory scale research was based on nutrient nitrogen pollution control (ANAMMOX Technology)- exploring fast start up mechanism of anammox technology and electron transport mechanism of anammox bacteria. Currently, my focus is on proper management of healthcare waste, and also to help the University Teaching Hospital- Zambia achieve the stipulated environmental standards. By doing so I am typically promoting compliance to ISO 14000 and Environmental management Act. Of 2011, of the laws of Zambia. Besides, I am continuously helping the institution to promote and protect the Public Health and the environment by ensuring proper management and disposing of pharmaceuticals, laboratory chemical wastes and other hazardous waste.
I am also privately engaged with some environment consultancy firms, especially in conducting Environmental and Social impact assessments or studies.
Finally, my strong desire to protect the public health and environment, and as well as the knowledge and practical experience have gained over the years in Environmental inspections or audits/studies, promotion of sustainable use of natural resources, water quality monitoring, hazardous waste management and EIA or EISA have really helped me to grow professionally and become more focused on environmental protection and sustainability issues.
